While protests and riots are going on around the country, it’s important to remember that good relations between police and community exist on a daily basis.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is one good example of this. Here we have a wonderful little boy who has a very important mission. He wants to tell cops that he loves them!
It was on the way home from school on the bus when Jayden Hooker heard about the police officers being attacked during the period where they were trying o calm protests in cities. The boy came up with a brilliant idea.
He gets up and asks his mom Deanna if they can go to the police station. He wants to give out hugs and donuts to the cops! Mom agreed and off they went!
Here’s what mom posted on Facebook:
“This little boy was woken up and scared from the helicopters and sirens outside our home last night.
On the way to school he heard about the injured police last night on the radio and asked if he could bring them donuts and give them a hug after school.
That’s just what he did.”
He has the donuts, and the sign around his neck that says “free hugs”.
Jayden gives out hug after hug, while telling officers he appreciates their protection. He also said the following:
“I’m happy the police officers didn’t get really hurt. I want you to stay safe and I don’t want anybody to hurt you.”
Indeed there are many people out there who definitely appreciate the job that police officers do!
Check out this wonderful video where hugs are given by Jayden to the Charlotte officers!
